In 2015, the city of Glasgow attracted 2.22 million international and domestic tourists, generating £613 million for the local economy.
This represents a 19% increase in all tourism visits and a 31% increase in all tourism spend compared to 2013 according to figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) and the Great Britain Tourism Survey (GBTS).
International tourists made 662,000 trips to Glasgow in 2015, an increase of nearly 30% on 2013, spending £221 million (+19%).
The majority of international tourists to Glasgow cited holidaying (54%) as the reason for their trip, while almost a quarter visited friends and relatives (24%) and 18% were business travellers.
