We're here to help
Our visitors’ journey to and around Scotland is dependent on many components, many of which are beyond the immediate influence of the tourism industry and are long-term in the planning and delivery.
As the industry works better together and strategies are aligned, the role which the tourism sector can play in influencing and shaping investment decisions has become evident. Of particular relevance to the tourism industry are:
Demand for hotel accommodation has reached record levels and is forecast to grow. If Glasgow is to deliver one million additional tourists per year, further supply is absolutely essential to achieve our ambition. The city has a pipeline of developments with a projected 1,500 hotel bedrooms, however Glasgow requires 2,500 rooms to meet increased demand from current, and projected, leisure and business tourism markets.
We will regularly update our information for brands, operators, investors and developers to help to unlock investment.
In response to constrained supply and increasing consumer demand, we will support the sharing economy, and the diversification and growth of short-term accommodation provision that appeals to customers seeking authentic experiences in vibrant city neighbourhoods.
